This course on Introduction to Economic Development is designed as a refresh and for people new to the role in local authorities, regional and national agencies and other organisations. It will cover key policies and strategies, and institutional arrangements, relevant to the Scottish setting. And it will discuss the future direction of travel, including around the transition to net zero and the drive toward a wellbeing economy.

The course will also provide an accessible introduction into the world of economic development through the lens of the Scottish economy. Key terms and data sources will be covered, alongside a discussion of Scotland’s economic strengths and weaknesses at both a national and local level.

We’ll spend some time talking about β€˜hot topics’ of the day – such as the economic impact of COVID-19.

The course takes place over a 3-week period on MSTeams.

  • Wednesday 27th October – 9.30-11.30am
  • Wednesday 3rd November – 9.30-11.30am
