Community Wealth Building and Land Workshops with Scottish Land Commission

September 20, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - September 27, 2022 @ 4:00 pm

The ways we own and use land and buildings shape the kind of economy, climate and communities we live in. Land needs to be part of our economic thinking as we address recovery, renewal and a just transition to net zero.

The Scottish Land Commission has made a link between the Scottish Government’s Land Rights and Responsibilities Statement and the land property pillar of community wealth building and has developed guidance that sets out actions that can be taken in the short and long term to support an inclusive, sustainable, and empowered local economy.

The Commission will facilitate two workshops based on the actions identified in the guidance and share examples of good practice from across Scotland. These will be led by Gemma Campbell, Land Rights and Responsibilities Manager, David Stewart, Policy and Practice Lead, and Karen Grant, Good Practice Advisor. There will be breakout sessions which will offer opportunities to discuss your own experience of managing land and buildings and hear about what other participants are doing in their local areas.

This registration page registers you for both events. The workshops will take place on MS Teams.

  • Workshop 1, Tuesday 20th September, 2pm-4pm – Supporting net-zero ambitions, proactively managing estates, and productive re-use of land.
  • Workshop 2, Tuesday 27th September, 2pm-4pm – Collaboration, engagement and transparency.
